Our team
Lifen is a co-founder of Blue Aspirations and serves as its general manager. With nearly 20 years of management and product development experience in telecommunications, power substation monitoring, wind turbine predictive maintenance, and floating LiDAR systems, he’s used his deep technical expertise to ensure Blue Aspirations’ products demonstrate reliability and robustness even in harsh conditions. He is a current member of the IEC working group TC 88/PT 61400-50-4 on the use of floating LiDARs for wind measurements. He was formerly the Head of Quality at Kelin Power where he was responsible for automating testing of thousands of substation monitoring devices and he’s held several roles at Nokia Siemens Networks, including Scrum Master, R&D Manager, and Agile Coach. Lifen was also formerly the recipient of a bronze medal in the Chinese national level Hope Cup math competition.
Lifen holds a B.E. in Software Engineering from Southeast University and as a programmer with a lifelong commitment to learning, he is currently pursuing a doctorate at Tsinghua University.

Barnabas is a co-founder of Blue Aspirations and brings his deep knowledge and experience to the role of CTO. Prior to founding Blue Aspirations, Barnabas worked at a tech company focused on product development and engineering services for the offshore wind industry. During his tenure with the company, he acted in a variety of roles – including Hardware Engineer, System Engineer, Software Engineer, and Deputy Technical Director – and spearheaded the development of a safety-protecting controller for wind turbines. He also managed the development, optimization, and quality management of floating LiDAR systems and actively contributed to deployments in the Asia-Pacific region.
Barnabas holds a B.E. in Automation and an M.Sc. in Control Theory and Control Engineering from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University.

Jian Yu is a co-founder of Blue Aspirations and brings his knowledge in the design, manufacture, and operation of floating LiDARs to the role of Project Director. He is responsible for managing Blue Aspirations’ campaigns from the beginning of manufacturing through to deployment and operation, including ongoing coordination with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. Prior to his work with Blue Aspirations, Jian Yu spent nearly 10 years in mechanical design. He previously worked as the Mechanical Design Director at a floating LiDAR manufacturer and has overseen 7 floating LiDAR deployments throughout Fujian, Guangdong, and Guangxi since 2016 - including the first two floating LiDARs to be deployed in China. At Blue Aspirations, he leverages that rich experience to ensure each project unfolds on time and on budget.
Jian Yu holds a B.E. in Mechatronics from Ostfalia University of Applied Sicences in Germany.
