Our philosophy on safety
This is the first in a series of posts that will take a deeper dive into the four pillars of our design philosophy – safety, reliability, accuracy, and resilience. Today’s post focuses on safety.
At Blue Aspirations, the primacy of safety is deeply embedded in our company culture and we’re committed to adhering to the highest international Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (“QHSE”) standards. We have a robust framework of policies and procedures that guide our operations and instruct our team and we’ve achieved ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 certifications. Yet while these credentials are an important first step for any organization, safety doesn’t end there.
Offshore work is subject to a constantly evolving landscape of risks and each new project comes with its own unique set of challenges. To ensure the health and safety of everyone involved, companies must understand the principles embodied in their QHSE policies, prioritize their implementation at all levels of the organization, and continuously revisit whether existing procedures meet the specific needs of new environments.
Our team meets this high standard by:
Establishing precise and measurable QHSE KPIs and initiatives;
Managing risks throughout the value chain, including a detailed evaluation of impact and likelihood, roles and responsibilities, and mitigation measures;
Managing sub-suppliers and sub-contractors with strict selection criteria and ongoing monitoring and control processes; and
Promoting education and improvement by encouraging open dialogue on QHSE issues and organizing training programs.
Offshore wind development is constrained by a variety of regulatory, technological, and financial risks, but HSE considerations must always come first. With appropriate preparation and principles – and a daily commitment to their implementation – offshore wind measurement campaigns can be conducted safely and efficiently.
